| Objective on the basis of need | 1. To assess the energy saving and the carbon credit potential of CSIR-IIP PNG stoves using the Gold Standard method. 2. To prepare a National resource guide on the usage of energy efficient PNG stoves in domestic and large scale commercial cooking applications. |
| Executive summary of the proposed project (In 250 words) | It is proposed to conduct an experimental study with CSIR-IIP PNG burners at Shatikunj Gayatri Parivar, Haridwar with approximately 450 nos. of domestic PNG connections using LPG retrofitted burners. With present installation, a monthly consumption of 2998.5 units is observed at Shatikunj Gayatri Parivar. This monthly consumption generates a bill of ~Rs. 1,80,000/- (@Rs. 60/SCM). It is proposed to replace the entire LPG retrofitted burner by CSIR-IIP PNG burners. The proposed activity would result in the savings of at least 25% of the monthly fuel consumption of the Shatikunj Gayatri Parivar. In monetary terms this would be Rs. 45,000/- per month and saving of close to 750 m3 of the PNG per month. The saving of 750 units of PNG per month would lead to nearly 1.4 tons of CO2 per month. (Considering the density of PNG as 0.66 kg/m3; 1 kg of methane PNG to generate 2.75 kg of CO2). The proposed study will help in assesing the potential of the CSIR-IIP PNG burner for energy savings and carbon credit benfits. It would also help in the nation wide popularization and implementation of the developed product. Also, the present study would attract many carbon traders to invest on large scale implementation of CSIR-IIP PNG burner. |
