Project Detail
Objective on the basis of need

1. Installation and commissioning of community scale briquetting units (five)

2. Skill development of locals and generation of additional income through market linkages

3. Socio-economic impact analysis and carbon acounting for environmental benefits

Executive summary of the proposed project (In 250 words)

It is proposed to utilize the forest and agro-waste for energy production. The direct utilization of agrowaste is not viable due to its less dense nature, and transportation is also not economically viable. To circumvent the situation, it is proposed to make denser briquettes /pellets from agro-waste. The briquetting will improve the transportability and effective utilization for direct heating applications. In the present case agro-waste based briquetting unit of 100-200 Kg/h capacity shall be installed at suitable locations across the districts of Uttarakhand to produce briquettes to meet the demand of local domestic and rural cottage industries such as dairy, and seed drying, etc. Further, improved combustion devices shall be implemented to ensure clean and efficient combustion of theses briquettes. Skill development programs shall be conducted to train at least 1000 no. of beneficiaries in various districts of Uttarakhand on the operation, processing, and maintenance of these briquetting units and combustion devices. A value chain shall be established to have better market accessibility of the finished products. A detailed socio-economic and environmental benefit assessment shall be done to scientifically analyze the project outcome.
